D. Leavell |
Larry
D. Leavell is Chief Operating Officer for Shona Energy Company,
Inc. He has 40 years of engineering and management experience. Mr.
Leavell has a proven track record to grow the company through
exploration and acquisitions, and monetize discoveries as quickly
as possible. Prior to early retirement in 2002, Mr. Leavell
managed a fully integrated staff in a Southeast Asia company for
Devon Energy Company (formerly Santa Fe Energy). This operation
had operating interests in five concessions with a 2002 gross
capital budget of US$142 million and an operating budget of US$120
million. The concessions had gross reserves of 325 million barrels
of oil and condensate, 90 million barrels of LPG and 1 TCF of
natural gas. Mr. Leavell served as an officer on the Indonesia
Petroleum Association Board of Directors. The company was sold to
PetroChina. After retirement, he consulted for several companies
and formed his own small company, which purchased marginal
properties in the Permian Basin of the United States , reworked
the wells and significantly increased production.
Mr. Leavell’s experience includes most geologic basins in the
United States and numerous international countries. He has
expertise in the Permian Basin (primary, secondary or waterflood
and tertiary or CO² recovery) California heavy oil (steam
cyclic, steam flood and insitu combustion) and Gulf of Mexico
onshore and offshore operations. As a corporate manager for Santa
Fe Energy, he managed the Health, Safety and Environmental
Department and special projects as heavy oil upgrading and
marketing. As International Production Manager for Santa Fe
Energy, he directed drilling and production activities in
Argentina , Bolivia , Ecuador , Gabon , Indonesia and Malaysia .
Mr. Leavell was responsible for the planning, engineering and
building a 75 MMCFPD natural gas processing facility in the
Neuquen Basin in a record 18 month time frame.
Mr. Leavell holds an engineering degree from New Mexico State
University and completed the Stanford University Executive
Program. |
